Plan NYC
Manhattan, August 20th, 2025.
NYC Poor Relief Campaign is the main driving force behind my campaign and my candidacy for Mayor, city of New York.
As a driving force, best way to explain it is to say, it is a shift towards making a move away from a banking to private profit (Wall Street) system to a communal focused banking for the general well being of all (New Yorkers’ in this case) system.
It is about a move and creatively shove the city back into a more prosperous direction, new, but also re-tracking a well known track in the city’s past. It is a move that will create new money, new generational wealth by building a broad base for small businesses and providing a blockchain technological framework to support it.
The collection of well documented source of new revenue, the creation of new jobs as well as new attitudes to work and work environment from this Poor Relief Campaign – if and when put into action, will be agreeable better improve living standards for New Yorkers’ in my first three months as Mayor, than the minimum wage debacle we are faced with today.
For businesses, I will make retail and tips theft, dubious cashing a thing of the past by introducing a palm and finger recognizing digital payment and individual recognition technology method to the city. You touch, you grab, you pay. No need to chase you around.
Build a series of new but green industries and new jobs for the city by establishing waste to energy thermal plants all over the city, re-adjust energy grids by breaking them up into a satellite of grids. Increase the number of data processing centers in the city by reconfiguring a few old historic buildings in the city for this use.
Aggressively fund teachers, provide robust resources and support for our education system as well as unrestricted access to after school hours activities. Boost access to affordable housing by adopting multiple approaches: ranging from rezoning – office and industrial space to affordable and luxury residency apartments. Repurposing – old historic buildings, churches, warehouses and parks to living spaces as well as for agritectural cultivation purpose.
The combination of waste to energy structure plus agritectural establishments will help the city move towards re-establishing its long lost and long forgotten productive ID.
These actions will bring down cost of phone bills, cost of electricity, cost of energy for heating as well as cost of heating homes. A huge supply of affordable housing and other options in the market will bring down cost of rent by 30% or more. City’s production of fresh produce will be used to slash cost of living by 75%. Consumption standard and quality of food and drinks for sale on our shelves will be improved.
As part of infrastructural update, the city’s charter will be amended by a statutory tool and by an assigned body. Goal will be to bring the city’s admin rules and regulation up to the same standard as advancement in technology and economics.
Focus on areas in the city that are prone to flooding as well as rising sea level. Improve on city’s supply network so areas like Jamaica, East New York, Flatbush, Harlem, South of Bronx and Red Hook could get the ample supply of daily fresh produce these communities are missing out on.
Revamp city’s transport system by moving it away from a system that relies on constant fare increases, fees, charges and levies to fund its ever growing operations, repairs, improvements and pensions. Improve inter connectedness in areas like Queens, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Harlem and Manhattan east side by bringing back green, quiet and environmental tram ways and railcars that run on a network of e-magnets.
Thus making it easier to promote New York to the world as the place to be, and a lot easier to remove the old bias about low income areas of the city being dangerous. I see it as imperative to take steps towards getting visitors to overcome old beliefs and away from stereotypical beliefs that – that some neighborhoods are bad and dangerous.
Rather than keep up with the art of building, rebuilding and redeveloping Manhattan, I will move radical and beneficial developments and long term public projects to other boroughs. This will help bring down rent and reduce our current high cost of living and sustenance.
As at now, we have seen a huge drop in the number of visitors coming to the city. Number of international students at our Universities and colleges of higher learning have dropped. Food service, bars, hospitality, finance, banking, insurance and entertainment businesses, landlords, renters and real estate brokers are at the receiving end of this.
Stock market is tanking and bond markets – a refuge for hedge funds are going boom boom because they no longer have the margin to put up for prospective investors!
Questions I have for the current Mayor and City Hall’s elected officials is, for how long do you have to rely of city’s civil service officials and city workers to keep on keeping the city afloat as if from pay check to pay check?
If changing times demands turning the city in a new direction, then do we still need to run the transport department, the TLC and others on a fare charge, tickets and levy based platform?
That is why I’ve decided to run the city of New York with the principles of an open source platform. Give every New Yorker – born and yet to be born, a stake in the city. They more than own it. They deserve it.
I am Abbey Laurel-Smith, an Independent candidate running for Mayor of the City of New York. As your candidate, I favor the general well being of all New Yorkers. And as much as I promise to work to improve the living experience for retirees, students, city workers and low income families, I also promise to work hard on bringing back those high earning out-migrators who left the city for neighboring states during the pandemic.
I put New Yorkers first. Join me, vote better live this general election and let’s rebuild your city.
Follow my campaign, donate if you can, and help spread the word about SmithieForMayor NYC 2025.
Please note: Plan NYC is a roadmap for promises and for things that I plan to focus on in any one of the five boroughs of New York City.
Please do not take it as an oversight if I did not touch on your area. New York City has a diverse community of almost 95 or more.
